I have always a great love for poppies. Their crepe-like flowers and vibrant colors send a clear signal that spring is just around the corner!
I have tried many (unsuccessful) times to grow poppies from seed. Each year taking the delicate black pearls and gently placing them in the soil. Each spring waiting (impatiently) for them to pop up. Once I had read that people throw poppy seeds into a late season snow, and as the snow melts the poppies are placed magically into the perfect planting spots. Unfortunately, we hardly ever get snow in central Texas, and never one late enough to toss poppy seeds into.
This year, however, is different. Home Depot has come through for me with these Icelandic Poppies, that are now growing happily in my garden. High-five Home Depot, high-five!
